SCROLL DOWN FOR ENGLISH Uzun dönem tercihen çift gönüllüleri davet ediyoruz. We live in yurts and we are building ecological house using stones, clays, straw and wood in a beautiful olive garden. We also have another garden higher in the mountains with nice weather in summer time and many fruit trees. The Gağgı farm is located in the Ovacık national park in the west part of the mountains of Karlık near Izmir. The area is in the middle of nature with only a few people living here and there. Izmir airport is only 90 minutes from here, Bayındır is the next bigger village and 25 km far away, the next small village is 7 km from here. Our land is 50.000m2 in middle of a unique ecosystem and a very rich flora and fauna. 900 years old chestnut trees, 500 years old oak trees and 50 years old cherry trees are situated here, where we are living. Cherries, walnuts, apples, pears, grapes, different kinds of plums and many more fruits are at the land. We have built 8 yurtes ( mongolian tents) from 12- 40 m2 in our ateliers and are using those for sleeping, kitchen, hamam/bathroom or workshop. We are building all our furnitures and yurtes and everything out of local materials from the woods nearby or local. Fruits and veggies are produced and processed here for own uses and some for barter or sharing. Lavender and other herbs are picked as well. A flower garden feeds our honey bees. Besides of all this there are many beautiful walking paths to discover, planting trees and live the rural live. Who are we? Schade!

We stayed three weeks with Türkan and Veysi and had a wonderful time. The work was varied. We harvested walnuts, apples and peaches. Dried figs and helped to pack the orders for the market. Otherwise we fed the chickens and sometimes the dog and the cats. If you are interested in building with wood, this is also the right place. Veysi explains everything calmly. Communication is easy with both of them. Türkan speaks good english. Veysi's English is sufficient for simple matters and to work together. Türkan and Veysi have very nice friends and so we had a lot of interesting and funny encounters and nice evenings with great food, music and also singing and dancing. The two of them have built a great house (with WiFi). The kitchen, living room and bathroom are nicely furnished and cosy. And the view from the roof in the evening is beautiful. @fabulousfemalecyclists

In October 2021 we spend nine days on the farm of Türkan and Veysi. It was our first time wwoofing. First of all, Türkan was easy to reach on Whatsapp and both of them speak English well enough to make the working together easy. For us as cyclists the last 15km up in the mountains were a little hard, but the peacefulness of their place is definitely worth it. We got our own sleeping yurt (sometimes sharing with two other volunteers) and there was good acces to warm water and electricity. As for the work: there was a good variety of chores, enough breaks, and we learned about olive and chestnut harvest, and building. The best though were the people. Türkan is a very kind-hearted woman and she tried her best to make us feel comfortable and happy at their home. There was singing, playing games, joking and we exchanged a lot about our cultures, language, music. Veysi likes to explain and teach about the things he learned in life, such as carpenting. Türkan and Veysi are very hospitable people and during the week there were a lot of friends coming and going. Always sharing lovely meals together. We also very much enjoyed that there were two other volunteers at the same time! All in all we had a great experience and would definitely recommend coming to Türkan and Veysi. We hope to meet them again in the future.
